Westgate Weather and Winners

Woke up to snow a couple days during Missions Emphasis Week in Toledo Ohio in mid-late April!

Westgate folks play 'The Price is Right' with Mongolian costume, and every day items like a Bible.

After a nice week, and enjoyable Sunday we had a nice drive to Detroit airport. Here is the sunset after a nice flight and sunny arrival in Seattle.

Walking The Rocks and Hills, We Found a Trout

It was nice to be able to get out onto the hills during a break in the rain Saturday.

Even on these usually dry hills, there was mud.

We found a tiny creek to wash our shoes off.

In it, we heard a splashing noise we thought was a frog.

Finally through a team effort we got our hand on this stranded trout.

Josiah with his first fish, caught without a pole.

What kind is it?

Another hike before the picnic.

The fish was not part of the the meal.

It was put back into the main creek, which was pretty high with all the rain.

Did the recent rain storms tip over this pine tree?

In the Gallery

Johanna poses with Clara and Josiah next to her class piece of art in 'Gallery One'.

She also studied pottery there last fall.  It was fun to see her work displayed as part of Ellensburg's multi-gallery 'First Friday Art Walk'.

Big Family Fun for Easter Sunday

There were 26 members of the family and a lot of food to celebrate the resurrection of the Author and Perfecter of our faith on Easter Sunday at Grandma Suzy's house.

Grandpa Joe also in attendance, was driven over from Seattle by Uncle Jon and family.  Cousin Charlotte did the scripture reading from Matthew 28, which begins like this:

After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb.
There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.
The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee...'

Good News on Good Friday

This World War 2 story of a good teacher in Holland heroically saving lives reminds me of Jesus and the evil he suffered in death for the salvation of the world.

Beautiful Feet of the Future

This crew from the youth group stood in response to a call to take the gospel to the next generation.
"And how can anyone preach unless they are sent?  As it is written: 'How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!'" - Romans 10:15

Cool Formations Under Cliff in the Country

Josiah found a couple bones on our hike up the big hill.

Pretty fun hike for our family on a chilly day.  See ice in crick behind?
